Golf Trip Planner is an app for planning golf trips with friends. It is run by [LEGAL NAME] (“we”). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. If you have a question, email [email protected].
The short version
- You can use the app without an account. Your trips then stay on your phone.
- If you sign in, we keep your name, email and trips so they can be backed up and shared.
- We don’t sell your information, show ads or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- You can delete your account and data from inside the app at any time.
What we collect
| Information | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email address and profile picture link, plus an ID from Google or Apple. With Apple, we also keep a token that lets us end the connection to Apple if you delete your account. | You sign in with Google or Apple. Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one. | To create your account and show your name to people on your trips |
| Trip details: names, dates, places and their coordinates, times, costs and how they’re split | You sign in, which backs up your trips | To back up your trips and share them with people you invite |
| Your personal plan: where you’re starting from and your travel steps | You add a plan to an unlocked trip while signed in | To back it up and work out when you need to leave. Other people on the trip can’t see it. |
| Purchase records: an ID for each purchase and which trip it unlocked | You unlock a trip | To confirm your payment and unlock the trip |
| IP address and basic request details | Your phone contacts our server | To run the service, limit abuse and keep it secure |
We never see your card details. Apple or Google handles your payment. We don’t ask for your Google or Apple password.
Your location
The app only asks for your location if you tap “Use my location” when adding travel to your plan. It reads your location once at that moment, and never in the background. Your coordinates are sent to our place search provider to find the name of where you are. If you keep that place and you’re signed in, it’s saved in your plan. You can decline and type a place instead.
What stays on your phone
Your trips, plans and preferences are stored on your phone so the app works offline. If you don’t sign in, your trips never reach our servers, and uninstalling the app or using “Delete all my trips” removes them. Place searches still go to our place search provider, as described below.
Who else sees your information
People you share a trip with. Anyone who joins with an invite can see the trip’s itinerary and costs. The trip’s owner can see the names of people who have joined. Anyone holding an invite code can join until the owner replaces it, so only share it with people you trust.
Service providers. We share only what each one needs to do its job:
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Google and Apple | Sign-in and in-app purchases | What you give them when you sign in or buy |
| RevenueCat | Manages and verifies purchases | Your account ID, your purchase history and device details needed for purchases |
| Mapbox | Road travel times and distances | The coordinates of the start and end of a drive, sent from our server and without your name or email |
| Komoot (Photon place search, using OpenStreetMap data) | Finds places as you search | What you type in a place search, or your coordinates if you tap “Use my location”, along with your IP address. Your phone sends this directly. |
| Our hosting and database providers | Run our server and store data | The account, trip and plan information above |
These companies have their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect people’s safety or our rights, or as part of a sale or transfer of the app. We’d tell you about a transfer before your information became subject to a different policy.
How long we keep it
- Account, trips and plans: until you delete them or your account.
- Sign-in sessions: up to 90 days, or until you sign out.
- Saved drive times: 90 days. These are only pairs of coordinates with a time and distance, and aren’t linked to you or your account.
- Rate limit counts: no longer than a day, held in server memory.
Deleted information may remain in provider backups for a limited time. Apple, Google and RevenueCat keep their own purchase records, as financial and tax rules may require.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your data: see how to delete your account. You can also delete single trips or leave a shared trip in the app.
- Location: turn off the app’s permission in your phone’s settings at any time.
- Other requests: depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or export your information, or to object to how it’s used. Email us and we’ll respond within the time the law requires. You can also complain to your local privacy regulator.
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on providing the service you asked for, our legitimate interest in keeping it secure, your consent (such as for location), and legal obligations.
Security
Information travels between the app and our server over encrypted connections. We store sign-in tokens in hashed form on the server and in secure storage on your phone. No system is perfectly secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security.
Where information is processed
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours, including Canada, the United States and Germany, where privacy laws may differ.
Children
The app isn’t meant for children under 13, or the minimum age for using online services where they live. We don’t knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make changes, we’ll update the date above, and tell you in the app if they’re significant.
